The Brain & Cognition Lab is crossing the Atlantic to join the Wu Tsai Institute Center for Neurocognition and Behavior and the Psychology Department at Yale University. We are looking forward to repotting our scientific ideas and approaches in this new terrain and are enthusiastic for new members to join the team. We are recruiting postdoctoral and postgraduate associates.
We investigate the proactive and dynamic brain functions that help us anticipate, prioritize, select, and prepare signals from the sensory stream and from our memories to guide adaptive behavior and cognition. To break new ground, we like to create new experimental tasks, innovate methods, and explore new analytical tools. Our group provides a friendly, open, inclusive, and supportive research culture as well as ample access to cutting-edge facilities for recording and imaging the human brain and behavior in laboratory and immersive settings.
Postdoctoral associate positions are intended for individuals who are interested and experienced in our lines of work and looking to deepen their expertise to transition to their independent research careers. The successful candidate can expect significant intellectual autonomy coupled with supportive mentorship to develop and deliver novel and meaningful research in attention/memory/perception/ action and their interrelations. The position is envisaged to last up to four years, with an initial appointment of one year renewable upon satisfactory progress. A doctoral degree and research experience with a strong publication record are required. Expertise in human neurophysiology and proficiency in statistics and programming are preferred. We are eager to recruit and welcome candidates who add to the diversity of the lab. Review of candidates will begin on a rolling basis and last until the positions are filled.
Interested and qualified candidates should send the following materials to bclab@ohba.ox.ac.uk:
- a current curriculum vitae (CV), resumé, or biosketch
- a cover letter explaining their background and motivation for the position (2 pages maximum) and indicating a preferred starting date
- a short proposal outlining their research ideas and plans and explaining how these build on previous work by the lab (3 pages maximum)
- contact information for 2-3 references
Postgraduate associate positions are intended for a recent university/college graduate seeking additional research experience in human neuroscience before applying to graduate or professional school.
